How we work

Where our information comes from, how we rate evidence and how content is reviewed.

Who is behind MyFoodPath

MyFoodPath is a private, independent project by Julian Stricker. There is no advertising, no affiliate links, no sponsored content and no payment from manufacturers. We do not sell products or recommend brands.

Every statement has a source

Every factual statement on MyFoodPath is linked to at least one source, shown right below the statement or in the page's source list. We prefer sources in this order:

  1. European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)
  2. legal acts and documents of the European Union
  3. World Health Organization (WHO)
  4. national health and nutrition authorities
  5. systematic reviews and meta-analyses
  6. randomised controlled trials
  7. observational studies and other scientific literature

Nutritional values come from traceable food composition databases. We do not use supplement shops, affiliate sites, manufacturer advertising, SEO blogs or content farms as evidence.

How we rate evidence

Statements about effects carry an evidence rating:

  • strong – consistent results from authority assessments or high-quality reviews
  • moderate – several good studies pointing mostly the same way, with open questions
  • limited – few, small or conflicting studies
  • insufficient – too little data for a reliable statement

Where the research is uncertain, we say so explicitly instead of promising an effect.

Authorised EU health claims

Health claims authorised by the EU under Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 are marked with a ✓ and cite their legal basis, usually Regulation (EU) No 432/2012. This shows at a glance what has been legally assessed and what describes the state of research.

Use of AI

We use AI tools to research sources, write drafts and paint the illustrations. The rules:

  • Research runs on a web search with cited findings; invented sources or identifiers are not allowed.
  • AI drafts are never published automatically. Every statement, source and image text is checked, corrected and approved by a human before publication.
  • The illustrations are artistic depictions, not photographs.

Review and updates

Every Knowledge Base page shows when it was last editorially reviewed ("Reviewed …"). We revise content when the research or recommendations change.

Found a mistake?
